Full & Partial Rewires
Older properties often carry outdated wiring that no longer meets safety standards. A rewire replaces the lot safely and brings your home up to spec.
Why rewire?
Wiring degrades over decades. Cloth insulation cracks, connections loosen, and old systems lack the circuits and protection modern homes need. A rewire replaces all of it with modern cable and protection, reducing fire risk and electric shock hazard.
What happens
We run new cables through the walls (usually in trunking to keep disruption minimal), add new circuits for kitchen and bathrooms, upgrade socket and lighting layouts to match how you actually live, and test everything before we hand back the keys.
Full or partial
A full rewire covers the whole house. A partial rewire upgrades just the areas that need it most — the kitchen, bathrooms, or circuits that are overloaded. We assess your home and recommend what makes sense for your safety and budget.
Time & mess
A full rewire takes days, not weeks. We plan the route to minimise damage, make good any holes, and leave your home tidy. You'll get a completion certificate and we'll explain what to do if you notice anything afterwards.
Fuse Board & Consumer Unit Upgrades
Old fuse boards are a fire and shock hazard. A modern consumer unit with RCD and RCBO protection is safer, more reliable, and handles today's power demands.
Why upgrade?
Fuse boards rely on rewireable fuses that melt slowly — not fast enough to protect against serious electric shock or fire. A consumer unit has RCDs (residual current devices) that trip instantly if current leaks to earth, and RCBOs that protect individual circuits. That difference saves lives.
What gets replaced
The entire fuse board comes out and a modern consumer unit goes in its place, usually in the same spot. All your circuits are re-terminated, labelled clearly, and protected individually. The work takes a few hours and you'll have electricity back the same day.
Testing & certification
Every circuit is tested, every connection is checked, and you get a signed EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report). That certificate proves the work meets current safety standards — important for insurance, mortgage lenders, and peace of mind.
Cost & funding
An upgrade typically costs a few hundred pounds. If you rent out the property, building insurance often requires one — and some landlord insurance policies will reduce your premium after the work is done. We'll give you a fixed quote before we start.
